Agricultural Plant Genomics Outreach
This outreach activity forms a bridge between UC Riverside’s Plant Genomics research and the Arlington High School TIERRA program. High school teachers receive training in the basic methods and database resources of genomics through hands-on training at UC Riverside. High school students receive similar training at Arlington High School in a laboratory equipped for genomics research. The data generated by the high school students become part of the worldwide database collections. This activity helps to extend knowledge of genetics and biotechnology to the public and provides job-oriented training for young people.
