 Program Name Description
ALIAS - Accelerated Literacy Integrating Algebra and Science (brochure currently unavailable) A team of UCR professors, middle and high school teachers create inquiry based projects and laboratory/ career experiences for the sequence of science classes. Based on previous analysis of current practices, teachers are selecting supplemental materials, acquiring new content knowledge and developing curricular units that are aligned to the state standards. The overarching aim in these activities is to build student awareness and motivation for advanced courses in science.
CHAMP - Climbing Higher with the Academy for Mathematics Performance Provides an educational environment where teachers and future teachers work collaboratively to create, demonstrate and test innovative instructional strategies in mathematics.
MATE - Mathematics Academy for Teaching Excellence Summer intensive academy of learning, with follow-ups, for teachers in content and pedagogical knowledge. Emphasis is on presenting relevant mathematical concepts, which are aligned with state/national standards utilizing motivating and interesting strategies.
Mathematical ACTS - Achievement & Collaboration for Teachers and Students ACTS is a 5-year project funded by the National Science Foundation, based on the partnership between UC Riverside and Jurupa Unified School District. The goal is to improve student preparation for and achievement in Algebra I, by providing professional development to preservice and inservice teachers by providing additional support and enrichment activities to students.
